With a vision to spread and create world class knowledge in the field of psychology, the Centre for Psychological Sciences (CPSYS) recognizes the immense potential of psychology, and its utility in improving quality of life of individuals and society. The Mission of the Centre is to educate and train psychologists who can serve the humanity. It is presently offering Master in Psychology with specialization in Social Psychology, Organizational Behaviour, Clinical Psychology and Counselling Psychology. The Centre is planning to start integrated M.Phil.-Ph.D. programme in the near future.
Psychology Laboratory
The Psychology laboratory under the Centre for Psychological Sciences is established with the objectives to explain the various psychological phenomena and train students on practical aspects of psychological theories and models. Presently laboratory provides three kinds of facilities conducting experiments, psychological testing and qualitative research.
The laboratory enables students to carryout computer based experiments and social experiments. The lab also contains numerous psychological tests. These tests include personality tests, intelligence tests, neuropsychological tests and many other important scales. The quantitative and qualitative research is important areas of the psychology lab. The laboratory has the facility of computers and audio-video modes for data collection and its interpretation. The psychology lab is equipped with software such as SPSS, R and QDA to carryout analysis of the research.
M.A./M.Sc. Psychology Programme
The two year (four semesters) Post Graduate Programme is to impart quality education and training for research and practice with sound base in theories, methodology and psychological skills. The objective of the programme is to prepare students for a professional career in academics with equal emphasis on teaching and research and also on practice as psychologist. The course work provides advanced knowledge covering different areas of psychology. A student admitted to the programme will be required to complete 74 credits of course work, lab work, dissertation, field work, internship etc. as per the requirement of specialization. Students are encouraged to take up internship, field work during vacation/semester break period. The programme seeks to enable students to develop competence in one of the four specialization areas namely,
1. Counselling Psychology
2. Organizational Behaviour
3. Social Psychology
4. Clinical Psychology
