CUSB student Sudha topped the online SWAYAM course on Medicinal Chemistry
Sudha Sinha, a student of M.Sc. Chemistry of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) topped the online course on medicinal chemistry conducted through SWAYAM. Sudha topped the course with 90% marks, which was conducted through SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active –Learning for Young Aspiring Minds) portal of government of India. It was a national level online classroom in which post-graduate students of chemistry from all over India had participated in large numbers.
Expressing happiness Chemistry department head Dr. Girish Chandra said that it is a matter of pride for the department as well as the university that Sudha Sinha has topped the national level exam. The programme was conducted by Professor Chakrapani Harinath from IISER Pune and co-ordinated by IIT Madras. SWAYAM is a programme initiated by Govt. of India to achieve the three cardinal principles of education policy, viz. access, equity and quality. The course was conducted at national level through video lectures, online interactive sessions and evaluation was done through submission of assignments and online examination during the period of Jan-April 2019, said Dr. Chandra
Sudha expressed happiness and thanked her mentor Dr. Girish Chandra for constant support and encouragement throughout the online course. Dr. Chandra said that the MSc programme of the department runs on the CBCS (Choice-Based Credit System) that provides flexibility to students to choose courses of their choice and the students are advised here to choose a few of the high-quality online courses available through SWAYAM portal which are offered by nationally renowned professors. Dr, Chandra further said that the department is proud of its students, who time and again have proved that they can compete and succeed at national level. He hoped that Sudha’s success would inspire others to avail this online mode of learning in their PG programmes. This augurs well for the future of the department and the university.
