CUSB observes National Unity Day on 31st October
On the occasion of 142nd birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel celebrated as National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) on 31st October, the Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) organised various activities in the University actively participated by the students, faculty, officers and staff. On the occasion of ‘National Unity Day’ the CUSB fraternity took the pledge for preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation.
As per the guidelines received from University Grants Commission (UGC) and Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, the University organised the ‘Run for Unity’ at its Patna and Gaya campuses. At Gaya campus, the ‘Run for Unity’ event was led by CUSB Vice-Chancellor Prof. Harish Chandra Singh Rathore and accompanied by Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Om Prakash Rai, Dean Students’ Welfare (DSW) Dr. Sanat Kumar Sharma, Chief Proctor Prof. Kaushal Kishore, deans of various schools, heads of various centres, teaching, non-teaching staffs and students of the university. Before commencing the run CUSB VC Prof. Rathore in his brief address to the participants highlighted about two important distinct characteristics of India, i.e family and unity in diversity. He also raised the point regarding family crisis because of imitating western life styles in certain metro cities.
Similarly, at Patna campus the ‘Run for Unity’ event was organised under the supervision of Professor-in-Charge Prof. Arun Kumar Sinha. In his brief address Prof. Sinha spoke about the contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as a freedom fighter, as an accomplished leader and the first home minister of independent India. The pledge taking ceremony was followed by ‘Run for Unity’ which started from the University campus and finished at neighbouring STF ground. The students, faculty and staff despite their adrenaline rushing run maintained the discipline and feeling of Unity although the route.
As a part of celebration of birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel an orientation programme entitled “Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat” was also organised at Gaya campus. In the orientation programme the panellists discussed about the important role and contributions of Sardar Patel for making a unified India.
The National Unity Day celebrations at CUSB ended in high note with the ‘Run for Unity’, as along with generating a feeling of Unity among them the participants found it quite health friendly.
