It’s Time to Revisit Teachings of Vivekanand to make India a Global Leader, Prof. Prashar
If India is eyeing to grab the position of ‘Global Player’, it’s the time to revisit the ideas, thoughts and teachings of Swami Vivekananda. The only way to pay respect to the towering personality of Swami Vivekanand is by living and following his teachings in our day-to-day life, said Prof. Atish Prashar, DSW and Head of Media department of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB). He also said that his teachings could be the torchbearer for India to become a global spiritual and educational leader.
The University celebrated ‘National Youth Day’ on the occasion of 158th birth anniversary of youth icon Swami Vivekananda on 12th January 2021. On this auspicious occasion, a webinar was organized by the university on the topic ‘ Life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda’ which was attended by the faculty members and the students of the University.
Prof Umesh Singh, Head, Department of Environmental Sciences highlighted Swamiji’s teachings for building a holistic student personality. Prof Singh said that education cannot be just focused on college, exams and marks obtained in the examinations but must imbibe the qualities of empathy and awareness towards the society and its challenges.
Addressing the students, Prof. Ram Kumar from Department of Environmental Sciences, reflected light on the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and its importance in the student life. He said that students must follow the qualities of curiosity and fearlessness in every endeavour they undertake. Also, he asked everyone to follow the philosophy of love for increasing the solidarity and brotherhood in society.
Dr. Sudhanshu Jha, Assistant Professor, Department of history during his address reflected light on The spiritual teachings which Vivekanand gave at the world congress of religion. He also said that true nationalism means unity and human service and that would help in realizing the dream of Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam.
The event ended with a poem recitation by Priyanshu, a student of the law department. The event was organized and facilitated by Dr Anindya Deb, Assistant Professor, Media department and Ayush Anand, PhD scholar of media department.
