Webinar on "Ideals of Constitution of India" organized by SLG of CUSB

On the occasion of Constitution Day 2020, Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) in association with UGC organized a Webinar on the topic “Ideals of Constitution of India”. Nominated as the State Coordinating Institution by UGC to celebrate the year-long Constitution Day during 2019-20, the School of Law & Governance of the University conducted the webinar. The event was conducted under the patronage of CUSB VC Prof. H.C.S. Rathore and supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Prakash Srivastava, Nodal Officer of the University. The webinar was joined by experts from the legal field, faculty members, research scholars, students from CUSB and other parts of the country.

The main speakers of the webinar were Prof. Amar Pal Singh (Head & Dean Law School, GGSIP University), Prof. Preeti Saxena, (Director,  Centre of P. G, Legal Studies, Former Dean, School of Legal Studies, BBAU, Lucknow), Dr. V. P. Tiwari, (Head Centre For Child Rights, NLU Nagpur) and Prof. Pradip Kulshreshtha, (Dean Law School, Sharda University). The speakers  shared their views on National Importance of fundamental duties under Indian Constitution, Harmonization of Fundamental Rights and DPSP, Right to Dissent under Indian Constitution and Independence of Judiciary respectively.

At the onset of webinar CUSB VC Prof. Rathore said that the beauty of Indian Constitution is to protect the right of down-trodden and it preaches about equality among the citizens of the country.  Further, Prof. Amarpal Singh talked about “National Importance of Fundamental Duties under Indian Constitution” and enlightened about co-relation between Right and Duty and importance of Karma. Prof. Preeti Saxena lucidly explained about “Harmonization of Fundamental Right and DPSP” directive principle is not enforceable but court can take cognizance. Duty of court is to harmonize the conflict between Fundamental Right and Directive principles.

Dr. V. P. Tiwari, Head, Centre for Child Right, MNLU Nagpur highlighted very pertinent topic “Right to Dissent under Indian Constitution” they have highlighted that freedom of expression is a natural right, highlighted certain international instruments, supreme court decisions. Then Prof. Pradeep Kul Shrestha, Dean School of Law, Sharda University also delivered a lecture on Independence of Judiciary” Judiciary can impact the whole nation therefore independence of judiciary is necessary.

Earlier the webinar started with the introductory remarks of Mrs. Poonam Kumari, Asst. Prof. of Law and moderator of the programme. Nodal Officer Prof. Sanjay Prakash Srivastava welcomed all the participants and formally made the announcement about the start of the webinar. He also quoted the words of Dr. Ambedkar in his speech and said that the beauty of the constitution depends on the operators how they operate it. At last the concluding remarks were made by Mrs. Poonam Kumari and Vote of thanks was given by Mr. Mani Pratap, Assistant Professor, Law and Event Coordinator, in which he thanked the guests, speakers and participants.
