About the Department:
The Department of Sociological Studies (DSS) aims at teaching and research for advancement of theoretical and applied understanding of society for human welfare. The Department seeks to explore various issues and problems related to the socio-cultural understanding in the context of national development. The Department disseminates qualitative and standardized education and trains students in both qualitative and quantitative aspects enabling them to contribute quality sociological knowledge. The Department encourages students to engage in serious academic discourse leading to understanding of society through active participation in and outside classroom. The Department of Sociological Studies is proud of its experienced, competent, and qualified faculty members who are sincerely committed to inspire and groom the students inside and outside the classrooms.

Vision:
To be recognised globally by acting locally through generating applicable knowledge in the field. This will help increase understanding about society, its problems and needs. Therefore, the Department is visionary in its action and scope in such a way that will produce professionals who can serve as effective leaders and actors in any development endeavours across the world.

Mission:
To place the Department on the top of the academic excellence all across the world in general and India in particular by providing an environment where the learners could fulfil their dreams and achieve their maximum merit, and will be working to nurture the local talents and disseminate knowledge.

  • M.A. in Sociology
  • MA in Social Work

The two year (four semesters) Post Graduate Programmes (M.A. in Sociology and MA in Social Work) are designed to equip the students with knowledge and skill in the fields of Sociology and Social Work respectively. The courses have been developed consistent with the rapid transformations the world is undergoing; it is imperative that these changes and development should be understood by a theoretical grasp of phenomena and by studying them with some methodological maturity.
