Prof. K.N. Singh assumes charge as new Vice-Chancellor of CUSB
Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh assumed the charge as the new Vice-Chancellor of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) on Monday, July 26, 2021. The incumbent Vice- Chancellor Prof. Harish Chandra Singh Rathore handed over the charge to Prof. K. N. Singh in presence of Registrar Col. Rajiv Kumar Singh and other University officials. Both the vice-chancellors exchanged the handing-over and taking-over document, and Prof. Singh assumed the chair as the 3rd full time VC of CUSB after fulfillment of official formalities.
The appointment of Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh as the Vice-Chancellor of CUSB has been made by the President of India in his capacity as the Visitor of the University. On 22nd July, 2021, the Union Ministry of Education (MoE) had officially communicated the appointment of Prof. K. N. Singh as the VC of CUSB. Prof. K. N. Singh has been appointed for the five years from the date of assuming the office that has started from 26th of July.
It should be noted that the tenure of founder Vice-Chancellor of CUSB, Prof. Janak Pandey started on 2nd March 2009 that ended on 28th February, 2014. Prof. Debdas Banerjee was acting Vice-Chancellor of the University during 01st March, 2014 - 04th August, 2015. On 5th August 2015 Prof. H.C.S. Rathore assumed charge as second full time vice-chancellor of CUSB. Although his tenure ended on 4th August, 2020, but his tenure was extended by the ministry till the date of joining of the new vice-chancellor of the University.
Earlier on Monday morning the outgoing Vice-Chancellor Prof. H.C.S. Rathore delivered his farewell speech during a special event organized at Vivekananda Lecture Hall Complex. During the event Prof. Rathore got emotional while sharing his almost six year long journey and sweet-and-sour moments. He expressed his gratitude to the entire University fraternity and lauded their efforts for establishing CUSB as one of the best educational institutions of the region and getting its place in various rankings.
Profile of Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh
Before joining CUSB, Prof. K. N Singh was the Vice-Chancellor of Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University, Allahabad. Earlier, he was Head of the department of Geography, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University (DDUGU), Gorakhpur. Prof. Singh has been the founder Director of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Research Chair at DDUGU, Gorakhpur. Prof. Singh has over 35 years of rich professional experience in different aspects of teaching, research, administration, training, Research and Development as well as major research projects formulations, both national and international.
Prof. Singh has worked as a research associate at the Institute of Geography and Institute for Development Research and Development Policy in Ruhr University, Bochum, Germany for one year in a joint research project titled ‘Urban fringe study of Indian and German cities’. He has conducted intensive field survey in different parts of Germany as well as the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg under the guidance of Late Prof. K.H. Hottes. Prof. Singh has contributed mainly in the field of environment, regional development and value education. He has served as Vice President of the National Association of Geographers of India (NAGI) and also as the President of the Association of North Indian Geographers.
