Workshop on ‘Education in Digital Era: Concerns & Challenges’ at CUSB
A two- day National Seminar-cum-Workshop has been organized on the topic ‘Education in Digital Era: Concerns & Challenges’ by School of Education, Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) inaugurated on Friday, March 24, 2017. On the first day, the programme started with lighting the lamp, followed by the welcome of dignitaries by Prof. Rekha Agrawal, Dean & Head, School of Education, CUSB. The theme of the National Seminar-cum-Workshop was introduced by Dr. Ravi Kant, Organizing Secretary of the programme. He highlighted the aims and objectives of the seminar and also gave a brief plan of the workshop.
The Chief Guest Prof. B. K. Tripathi, Director, IUCTE has given the inaugural address. He said that we should use the ICT as opportunity for maximum output of teaching and learning. It is a tool in the hands of teachers and teacher educators as well as learners for their personal and professional development. He acknowledged the contribution of NCERT in developing e-books, e-content, & e-pathshala and PG- pathshala for teaching learning at various level. He drew the attention of academic community towards the need to train our teachers and learners not only in using e-resources & e-content in judicious manner but also to create e-content &e-resources for fostering their creativity.
After that Hon’ble Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. O. P. Rai, CUSB, Gaya has given the presidential address in his address he emphasized on value crisis and overlook of human concerns in the present digital era. Further hi emphasized the need to inculcate the values in our students for their holistic development and conveyed his good wishes for the success of the program.
The keynote speaker of the session was Prof. Pradeep Kumar Mishra, Dean & Head, Faculty of Education, C.C.S. University, Meerut. In his expert deliberation, he discussed the concept of ICT, its importance and limitations. He suggested that the workshop of the programme should also focus on the use of ICT tools for improving teaching-learning process and also illustrated ICT related facilities like e-pathshala, MOOC & ROBO Teachers. He also discussed about the misconceptions of teachers about ICT. In addition to this he discussed the challenges in the form of e- addiction among the users of technology. He emphasized the need of development of e-content in Indian languages.

In the first technical session, papers were presented by Dr. Vijay Jaiswal C.C.S. University Meerut, Parwez Akhtar, Rakhi kumari and others. The session was chaired by Prof. P. K. Dhal, Maghdh University, and Bodh-Gaya.
In second technical session, the workshop on ‘Identification and Usage of Open Educational Resources’ was conducted by Dr. Ravindra kumar Assistant Professor, School of Education, CUSB, Gaya. He explained the National Repository of Open Educational Resources (NROER) and its functions. The session was chaired by Prof. Kaushal Kishore.
On this occasion Dr. Tapan kumar Basantia, Dr. Mitanjali Sahoo, Dr. Rinki, Dr. Tarun Kumar Tyagi, Dr. Pragya Gupta, Md. Mozammil Hassan, Dr. Ravindra. Mr. Kishore, Mr. Manish Gautam, Mr. Sudhindra Roy, Dr. Jitendra, Mr. Ram Awadh, Awadhesh, Dr. Kavita Singh of School of Education were presented in the Seminar-cum-Workshop.
On the second day twenty three papers were presented in the first technical session. The session was chaired by Dr. Vijay Jaiswal, Associate Professor, CCS University, Meerut (U. P.) and co-chaired by Dr. Ravi Kant, Associate Professor, School of Education, CUSB Gaya.
The valedictory programme was started by the welcome note of Prof. Kaushal Kishore. On this occasion Prof. Kusum Kumari, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Magadh University was the Chief Guest and session was chaired by the Prof. O. P. Rai, Pro. V. C. CUSB, Gaya (Bihar). In the valedictory address Prof. Kusum Kumari highlighted the importance of the ambitious projects launched by the Prime Minister like Digital India, cash less economy, e-governance, etc. further she emphasized on bottle necks i.e., limited infrastructure, lack of awareness and lack of motivation. At last she congratulated and appreciated for the successful completion of the programme.
In continuation of the programme Prof. O. P. Rai, has given the presidential address and he emphasized on ‘strength of the unity’. He said that there is no short cut for success. Hard work and honest efforts always leads to success. Report presentation was done by Dr. Tapan Kumar Basantia. Concluding remark was given by Prof. Rekha Agrawal, Dean & Head, School of Education, CUSB. After that proceedings of the Seminar was released by the dignitaries on the dais. Vote thanks has given by Dr. Ravi Kant.
