Research Area:
Knowledge and skills in Pharmacy play a crucial role in finding the solutions to most of the key challenges of the society associated with management of communicable & non-communicable diseases. The Department of Pharmacy under the School of Health Sciences forms a key component of the University. The Department believes in multi-disciplinary approach of learning and fosters a culture of excellence in research. To make the department more focused in research, department has confined its thrust areas as Nanomedicine and Novel Drug Delivery System for the treatment of various diseases along with Preclinical cancer Immunology/Neurological Disorders. The Department envisages scaling greater heights with the commencement of PhD programmes and producing globally competent pharmacy professionals who can solve the health problems of the Nation.
Nanomedicine and Novel drug delivery system
The research activities at School of health sciences encompass formulation development of Novel Drug Delivery System to design diverse preparations as nanoparticles, vesicles (ethosomes, bilosomes, transferosomes), gels, hydrogels etc using numerous natural and synthetic polymers.
Preclinical Cancer Immunology/Neurological Disorders
The research activity using immunotherapy offers a potentially less toxic, more tumor-specific treatment for neuroblastoma than conventional cytotoxic therapies. Accurate and reproducible immune competent preclinical models are key to understanding mechanisms of action, interactions with other therapies and mechanisms of resistance to immunotherapy. Regardless of the cause, all neurological disabilities result from damage to the nervous system and includes Alzheimer disease, stress-based diseases in humans, Parkinson disease etc.
