Four-Year Integrated B.A.B.Ed. Programme

The Four Year Integrated B.A.B.Ed. Programme (Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education) is a dual degree eight-semester full-time programme with vertical mobility to M.A. and/or M.Ed. levels. This is a cutting-edge teacher education programme recognized by NCTE which attracts the committed young talented minds towards the teaching profession and prepares secondary school teachers for teaching Arts subjects. It offers studies in Economics, English, Hindi, History and Political Science along with that of Education as a discipline in an integrated manner. A rigorous school internship programme and practical exposure in fine arts, performing arts, physical education, work experience, health education, and community service provides a strong training in pedagogy, learning and assessment skills along with enhancement of communication and life skills.

Objectives of the Programme:

  • To prepare knowledgeable graduates in different arts stream subjects along with an insight into the pedagogy of the subjects of study.
  • To prepare skilled, sensitive and responsive teachers for teaching Arts subjects at secondary level of education.
  • To develop understanding of principles and theories of education founded in Philosophy, Sociology, Psychology and Information Communication Technology
  • To enable to conceptualize the principles and theories of teaching, learning and evaluation in respect of teaching of Arts subjects.
  • To develop the pedagogical and assessment skills for teaching Arts subjects.
  • To enhance communication skills along with life and soft skills to enable for quality teaching.
  • To develop understanding of the principles and theories of liberal subjects like Economics or Political Science.
  • To develop skills of applying the principles and theories of liberal subjects like Economics or Political Science in real situations.
  • To make realize the significance of action research and to prepare to undertake action research to solve problems in the work area.
  • To enhance the skills of acquiring knowledge and skills for life-long learning in the field of study.
  • To enable to understand the education system of Bharat in global context.

Programme Outcomes:

  • Production of Bachelors of Arts and Bachelors of Education with a dual degree leading to teaching profession at secondary level or to move for further studies in respective disciplines.
  • Preparation of enthusiastic, sensitized and skilled teachers of Mathematics and Science subjects for secondary level of education by enabling them to
  • • use the acquired understanding and skills of teaching, learning and evaluation in Mathematics and Science subjects for teaching secondary level learners.
  • • apply the principles and theories of teaching and learning for the all-round development of learners.
  • • demonstrate professional knowledge and ability to develop educational resources for teaching, learning and assessment on the basis of the latest trends and requirements.
  • Production of lesson plans, teaching modules, assessment tools and other resource material for teaching Mathematics and Science subjects, reports of field work, action research, project work, etc.

Eligibility: 10+2 or equivalent examination in any stream from any recognized Board/University with at least 50% marks for General/OBC and 45% marks for SC/ST/PWD candidate.

  • To enable to conceptualize the principles and theories of teaching, learning and evaluation in respect of teaching of Mathematics and Science subjects.
  • To develop the pedagogical and assessment skills for teaching Mathematics and Science subjects.

M.Ed.

M.Ed. is a two year postgraduate professional degree programme for advanced studies in the field of Teacher Education which aims at preparing quality teacher educators and other educational professionals including educational policy analysts, planners, experts etc. The programme offers a comprehensive overview of ‘Education’ embedded in the foundational disciplines of Philosophy, Sociology and Psychology; and, detailed study of chosen specialized areas of interest. It also includes advance components of pedagogy in a subject of parent discipline of prospective teacher educator. Since M.Ed. is also a degree leading to research in education, the course has a strong research component which includes dissertation writing. The completion of programme shall lead to M.Ed. degree with different specializations.

Objectives of the Programme:

  • To prepare skilled, sensitive and responsive teacher educators, educational administrators and other professionals in the field of education.
  • To develop in-depth understanding of principles and theories of education founded in Philosophy, Sociology and Psychology.
  • To generate understanding and expertise in general and subject specific pedagogy and assessment.
  • To make realize the significance of educational research and to prepare to undertake research work in the area of interest.
  • To enhance the skills of acquiring in-depth knowledge and expertise, and for life-long learning in the area of interest and research.
  • To develop communication skills for creative writing, preparing research reports, and other related documents and presentations in oral/written and in physical/virtual form.
  • To make aware of the opportunities and venues for conducting educational research and to develop the skills to acquire them for the purpose.
  • To generate insight into the education system of India and to update with the latest trends and practices in the field of education across the globe.

Programme Outcomes:

  • Preparation of motivated, sensitized and skilled masters of education in the form of prospective educational researchers and teacher educators by enabling them to
  • a. demonstrate professional knowledge and ability to develop educational resources for teaching, learning and assessment on the basis of the latest trends and requirements.
  • b. apply understanding and mastery of research skills to acquire the degree of research in the field of education and to undertake research work in the area of interest.
  • c. use the acquired understanding of the principles and theories of education and the skills of employing them in preparing quality teachers.
  • d. exhibit academic leadership in problem solving and life-long learning in the area of specialization.
  • Production of a piece of research in education in the form of a dissertation and related resource material.

Eligibility: B.Ed. or Four Year Integrated B.A.B.Ed/B.Sc.B.Ed. degree from any recognised university/institution with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade for General/OBC category and 45% marks or equivalent grade for SC/ST/PWD candidates.

Course Structure: M.Ed.

Ph.D. Programme

Ph.D. in Education is a doctoral degree Programme which offers in-depth understanding of research procedure and development of various skills required to conduct different types of research in the field of education. The Programme is started with the conduction of a one semester Course Work which helps the prospective researchers to conceptualize the basics of educational research along with the knowledge and ways to apply various advanced tools and techniques of reviewing related literature, arranging resources, acquiring and analysing data, drawing inferences, and presenting them in a systematic manner. The completion of the Programme lies on the successful presentation of the research work in the form of a thesis and the research papers published.

Objectives of the Programme:

  • To prepare skilled, sensitive and responsive researchers in the field of education.
  • To generate insight and understanding of the significance of carrying fundamental and applied research in the field of education.
  • To make aware and to sensitize with the thrust areas of research in the field of education.
  • To enhance the skills of acquiring in-depth knowledge and expertise, and for life-long learning in the area of interest and research.
  • To develop skills to identify research problem, formulate hypotheses, construct and apply the measuring instruments, collect and analyse the data, and to draw inferences to solve the educational research problems.
  • To enhance communication skills to enable to prepare and disseminate research reports, research papers and articles, abstracts and summaries, and other related documents and presentations in oral/written and in physical/virtual form.
  • To imbibe the ethical values to conduct and publish research.
  • To make aware of the opportunities and venues to arrange resources for conducting educational research and to develop the skills to acquire them for the purpose.
  • To update with the latest trends and practices in the field of educational research across the globe.

  • Preparation of enthusiastic, sensitive and skilled professionals in the form of researchers and educationists by enabling them to
  • a. apply understanding and mastery of research skills to acquire the degree of research in the field of education and to undertake research work in the area of interest following ethical values.
  • b. prepare quality teachers of various subjects, and researchers and teacher educators with advanced expertise in different areas of education.
  • c. demonstrate professional knowledge and ability to develop educational resources for teaching, learning and assessment on the basis of the latest trends and requirements.
  • d. exhibit academic leadership in problem solving and life-long learning in the area of specialization.
  • e. set healthy traditions and trends in the field of education.
  • f. generate new knowledge in the specialized field of knowledge
  • Production of a good piece of research in education in the form of a thesis, a number of research papers and articles, presentations, and resource material.

Eligibility:  M.Ed./M.A.(Education) from any recognized university/institution with 55% marks or equivalent Grade B in UGC 7-point scale. Relaxation of 5% of marks from 55 to 50% or equivalent relaxation of Grade for SC/ST/Differently abled candidates.
