One-Year Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga

The One-Year Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga is a one-year (two semesters) professional Programme aim to equip the students with the contextual competency by providing basic knowledge in core subjects and orient them to quality teaching/coaching skills.

Objectives of the Program:

  • To introduce basic concepts of preventive health and health promotion through yoga.
  • To introduce concepts of Human Body to the students so as to make them understand about the benefit and contraindication of a practice.
  • To train teachers on preventive health and promotion of positive health and personality development through yoga.

Program Outcomes:

  • Apply advanced level knowledge and skills in the field of yogic science and research.
  • Understand the application of modern tools for providing synergistic yogic relief to diverse communities.
  • Disseminate values of performing yogic kriyas in a perfect manner for wellbeing of the society.
  • Communicate effectively about importance of yoga with diverse sections of community.
  • Assess health related societal issues to for improvement of professional yogic practices.
  • Understand the impact of yoga therapies in societal and environmental contexts.
  • Recognize the need to engage in lifelong learning through continuous education and research.

M.P.Ed.

The M.P.Ed. Programme is currently under the process of approval. It is expected that the program would start in the coming session.

The M.P.Ed. Programme is a two-year (four semesters) professional degree programme for advanced study in the field of Physical Education which aims at preparing physical education teachers/coaches, educators and other educational professionals including policy analysts, planners, experts etc. The programme offers a comprehensive overview of 'Physical Education' embedded in the foundational disciplines of Sports Training, Physiology and Psychology; and, detailed study of chosen specialized areas of interest. It also includes advance components of pedagogy in a subject of parent discipline of prospective physical educator. Since M.P.Ed. Programme is also a degree leading to research in Physical Education, the course has a strong research component which includes dissertation writing.

Ph.D. (Physical Education)

Objectives of the Program:

The Ph.D. (Physical Education) Programme aims to develop a comprehensive understanding of research, policies and practices in the field of Physical Education. As preliminary part of this programme, a rigorous Course work is compulsory which will help in building foundational understanding of research in the Ph.D. scholars so that they can be prepared as a cadre of professionals who can develop specialized knowledge in various areas of Physical Education.

Program Outcomes:

On completion of the programme, research students should have shown evidence of being able to::

  • demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the physical education and a comprehensive understanding of methods and techniques applicable to their own
  • able to discover, interpret and communicate new knowledge through original research of publishable quality which satisfies peer review
