Legal education has made its foray into different areas including business domain as per the need of the market. The market-oriented courses like BBA LLB having a combination of business administration and law has a bright prospect and youths can make a promising career post completion of their studies. These statements were given by Dr. Vinita S. Sahay, Director, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bodhgaya during the "Deeksharambha: A Students Induction Programme” organised for newly enrolled students BBA LLB programme at Central University of South Bihar (CUSB). As the chief guest Dr. Sahay emphasized upon the importance of legal education in today's world and further stated that legal education is now necessary in business and commerce also. She also shared some handy tips with students who have enrolled in the newly launched Five-Year Integrated BBA LLB programme from the session 2024-29.
In the presidential address CUSB Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh lauded the efforts of the department of Law for fulfilling the essential criteria as per Bar Council India (BCI) to get recognition for BBA LLB programme. The course has received overwhelming response from the candidates belonging to different states of India that is quite encouraging for us. We have established ourselves as an institution of academic excellence and with the inclusion of such market-oriented courses we would be able to find a respectable place for the University in the global rankings
Earlier the orientation programme organised by the SLG in collaboration with the Department of Commerce and Business Studies was formally inaugurated by VC Prof. K. N. Singh along with the chief guest IIM-BG Director Dr. Vinita S. Sahay, Prof. Sanjay Prakash Srivastava, Dean & Head, School of Law and Governance (SLG), Prof. Brajesh Kumar, Head, Commerce, Prof. Subramanian Shanmugam, Dean, Management, Programme Co-ordinator Prof. Pradip Kumar Das, faculty members of SLG and other departments.
Prof. S. P. Srivastava in his welcome speech welcomed the new students and highlighted the unique blend of business and legal skills that the students would acquire, preparing them for successful careers in a rapidly evolving world, legal and business world. Further, Prof. Brajesh Kumar, Head, Commerce shared valuable insights and advice with the students, encouraging them to embrace the challenges and opportunities that will lie ahead. Prof. S. Shanmugam, Dean of commerce and business studies, highlighted the importance of law in business nowadays contributing to societal progress. The students, who were visibly excited and motivated by the addresses of the dignitaries and expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to learn from such an accomplished individual. They acknowledged the immense responsibility that comes with pursuing a legal career and pledged to strive for excellence in their studies.
The Deeksharambha ceremony was a memorable occasion that marked the beginning of a promising journey for the first batch of BBA LL.B. students. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Prof. Pradip Kumar Das and shared the university's commitment to providing a conducive learning environment and equipping the students with the necessary skills to succeed in their chosen field.
