JSS Law College Mysore emerged as the champions of the 2nd CCI-CUSB National Moot Court Competition 2025

The prestigious 2ndCCI-CUSB National Moot Court Competition 2025 organised by the School of Law & Governance (SLG) at Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) came to an end with the final round. Organised under the supervision of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh the Moot Court Competition was successfully conducted, bringing together 19 teams and some of the brightest legal minds from esteemed law institutions across the country. This prestigious competition provided a platform for law students to hone their advocacy skills and engage in rigorous legal debates.

JSS Law College (Autonomous) Mysore emerged as the champions of the 2nd CCI-CUSB National Moot Court Competition 2025 and awarded with INR 40,000 along with winner’s trophy, Certificate of Excellence and One-Year Complimentary (Academic) subscription of SCC Online Web Edition to team members. Bharti Vidyapeeth New Law College, Pune secured the second position and was awarded with INR 25,000, runners-up trophy and Certificate of Excellence. The Best Memorial award went to RMNLU (Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia National Law School) with INR 9,000, trophy and certificate of excellence. The Best Speaker (Female) award went to Bharti Vidyapeeth New Law College and the Best Speaker (Male) award went to VIT School of Law, Chennai with INR 9,000, trophy and Certificate of Excellence for extraordinary public speaking. The Best Researcher award was achieved by O.P Jindal Global Law School with INR 9,000, trophy and Certificate of Excellence for an impactful researching and academic inquiry. The Semi-finalists were awarded Certificate of Achievement. The Quarter-finalists were awarded Certificate of Merit. All the teams participating in the preliminary rounds were given a Certificate of Recognition and all the participants except the winning team was given a One-month Complimentary (Academic) subscription of SCC Online Web Edition valued at Rs. 1099.

The Valedictory ceremony was attended by a channel of guests came from across the country namely Ms. Sunaina Dutta, Prof. (Dr.) Subir Kr. Roy, Shri Anil Chandra, Hon’ble Justice P. Krishna Bhatt, Shri Sukesh Mishra, Shri. Rajan Kr. Chourasia, Prof.  Anshu (Karorimal College, University of Delhi), Dr. Digvijay Singh, Dr. Praveen Kumar, Kshitiz Singh, Dr. Manjit Kumar and Other professors from the law department DSW Prof. Dr. Pawan Kumar Mishra, Prof. Ashok Kumar, Prof. Dr. Pradip Kumar Das, Dr. Surendra Kumar, Dr. Poonam Kumari, Dr. Deo Narayan Singh, Dr. Pallavi Singh, Dr. Anant Prakash Narayan, Dr. Neha Shukla and Dr. Anurag Agrawal offered their best wishes to the winning teams and encouraged the participants.
At the Valedictory Ceremony, Mr. Mani Pratap, Coordinator of the Moot Court Society, extolled the participants for their exemplary performances. He emphasized the transformative role of moot court competitions in nurturing the next generation of legal professionals and expressed gratitude to the Competition Commission of India (CCI) for their unwavering support. He applauded the organizers, faculty members, and student volunteers for their unwavering dedication in orchestrating a competition of such magnitude.
Shri Rajan Kr. Chourasia said that he felt nostalgic as being lawyer over the years by seeing the problems faced by participants and appreciated the level of preparation and composure displayed by the participants.
Guest of Honour, Shri Sukesh Mishra expressed his views about the competition and felt glad and happy to give support and advice to the big cause as earlier there was no awareness of moot courts. He was glad to see participants who showed their composure and confidence and gave insights about mooting skills. 


Hon'ble justice P. Krishna Bhatt (Karnataka HC) described about the essential things that makes one a lawyer who portrays the legal framework in best way possible. For competitions we should be go thorough in the enactments required in the competition, we should pick the best point first in our arguments. Lawyers should read widely and broadly special insight on natural law.


Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of CUSB, Patron in Chief, presided over the valedictory ceremony and said that practise makes man perfect and announced the results and congratulated the winners and contestants or all those who participated in the competition that they participated with sincerity and honesty, congratulated SLG for the great success of the event, and once again congratulated the organisers and participants of the event.


Prof. Dr. Sanjay Prakash Srivastava, Head and Dean of the School of Law and Governance, He also extended their gratitude to the judges for providing valuable feedback that served as a learning experience for the teams and praised the Moot Court Society for organizing such an event. Dr. Kumari Nitu gave the vote of thanks with expressing her gratitude to the panel of judges and professors and to the teams further she displayed a glimpse of the whole event in one short video prepared by moot court society.


Dr. Chandana Suba, Co-Coordinators, expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the winners and participants, highlighting the competition's role as a crucible for honing legal acumen, advocacy skills and a deep understanding of the legal framework. Along with the student committee, Mukund Kumar, Convenor, Sumant Kumar, Treasurer, Navin Maurya, Secretary, Shri Vijay Lakhsmi and Astha Gupta, Joint Secretary of Moot Court Society, Sambhavi Adarshi, Courtroom, Mini Sinha, Drafting, Alok Ranjan, Digital Designing performed their work seamlessly under pressure with the active participation from members of the Moot Court Society.

Semi-Finals Round

The Semi-Finals rounds were judged by an esteemed panel comprising senior advocates, academicians, and retired judges, namely Ms. Sunaina Dutta, Shri Shantanu Kumar, Prof. (Dr.) Subir Kumar Roy, Shri Saptashwa Singh and Shri Anil Chandra came to evaluate the participants. The moot problem was centred on competition law and intellectual property rights law. Each team had one opportunity to represent the petitioners and respondents, demonstrating versatility and thorough preparation. At the conclusion of the rounds, the two finalist teams were announced: One was the team from Bharati Vidyapeeth New Law College, Pune and another was the team from JSS Law College (Autonomous), Mysore. Afterwards, draw of lots and exchange of memorials for the final round settled. The Finals round of the 2nd CCI-CUSB National Moot Court Competition was hosted by the Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) on the same day at afternoon session. The grand finale witnessed the top two teams presenting their arguments before a distinguished panel of judges, including retired judges, academicians, and members of the Competition Commission of India, namely Hon’ble Mr. Justice P. Krishna Bhatt, Shri Sukesh Mishra and Shri Rajan Kumar Chaurasia.

Quarter Final Round

the quarter final round of 2nd CCI-CUSB National Moot Court Competition, 2025 in collaboration with Competition Commission of India commenced on 24th January 2025 in physical mode. The competition is based on market economy and intellectual property rights law. The Inaugural of the programme was held on 12th January 2025 following which the eight teams from different universities have qualified for the quarter final round, which took place today and four teams have been selected for semi-final round. 


The consequence of the event started with the registration and submission of memorials, after that judges and teams briefing, then the draw of lots and exchange of memorials for quarter round. The quarter final rounds were judged by an eminent panel comprising senior advocates, academicians, and legal experts, namely Dr. Priya Vijay, Vaibhav Kumar, Abhinav Alok, Anurag Saurav, Anupam Prabhat Srivastava, Abhishek Anand, Priyajeet Pandey and Vishal Ranjan, who meticulously evaluated the participants on their legal reasoning, articulation, and ability to respond to questions from the bench. Hereafter The mementos were delivered to Judges of quarter rounds ensuing announcements of results.


Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh motivated the teams and congratulated the Moot Court Society of the School of Law and Governance for their dedication and ability to perform under pressure. Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Prakash Srivastava, Head and Dean of School of Law and Governance, said that this competition is based on Competition law and Intellectual Property Rights law interface. Mr. Mani Pratap, Coordinator, has stated that it will give the insight about the mooting skill, oratory skill and team management amongst the students. Consequently, draw of lots and exchange of memorials for semifinal round was carried out.


On this event, Dr. Kumari Nitu, Dr. Chandana Suba, Mukund Kumar, Sumant Kumar, Navin Maurya, Shri Vijay Laxmi, Astha Gupta, Sambhavi Adarshi, Mini Sinha along with the active participation of all the members of Moot Court Society were all present as the organizing team with their continuous efforts. Other professors from the law department DSW Prof. Dr. Pawan Kumar Mishra, Prof. Ashok Kumar, Prof. Dr. Pradip Kumar Das, Dr. Surendra Kumar, Dr. Poonam Kumari, Dr. Deo Narayan Singh, Dr. Pallavi Singh, Dr. Anant Prakash Narayan, Dr. Neha Shukla, Dr. Anurag Agrawal, and Dr. Anuja Mishra offered their best wishes to the teams for qualifying the semi-final round.
