National Voter's Day Week 20-25 January, 2025 successfully concluded at CUSB 

The National Voter's Day Week organised at Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) with the objective of increasing awareness about the Indian Constitution and voting was successfully concluded. The National Voter's Day Week was organised by the 'Team Smile' unit of students under the guidance of professors of the Department of Political Studies under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh. In the valedictory session along with Vice Chancellor Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh as the chief guest in the closing ceremony, Mr. Sujit Kumar (SDM, Tekari) and Mr. Rajesh Kumar (District Transport Officer) were present. Special guest Mr. Sujit Kumar (SDM, Tekari) in his address discussed the electoral process and the role of administration. He explained to the youth their responsibility in the democratic process. Mr. Rajesh Kumar (District Transport Officer, Gaya) linked road safety and awareness with voting and stressed on the need to increase awareness in the society. In his presidential address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh appealed to the students to understand and strengthen democratic values. He said that Voter's Day is not just an occasion, but a day to strengthen democratic values.

Earlier, the program was formally inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp and after this, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Professor Pranav Kumar welcomed the guests and the people present in the auditorium in his welcome speech and highlighted the importance of National Voter's Day and inspired the youth to actively participate in democracy. DSW Prof. Pawan Kumar Mishra, in his address, described voting as the backbone of democracy and called upon the students to exercise their franchise in the right manner. In the next phase of the program, a prize distribution ceremony was organized. Students who performed excellently in various categories like debate competition, speech, mock election were honored. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Renu Assistant Professor, Commerce.

During this program organized by Team Smile, Supervisor Professor Praveen Kumar played an important role. At the same time, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Professor Pranav Kumar administered the oath of voting to the students. Dr. Sumit Kumar Pathak, Dr. Pawan Kumar Singh, Dr. Kumari Neetu, and Dr. Joginder Singh Chauhan, etc. were present in the program. Team Smile members Atul, Ashish, Suraj, Aastha Sonia, Akanksha, Aman, Bhavana, Ankesh, played an important role in making this event successful. Before the closing ceremony, an Election Literacy Club was formed under the National Voters' Day Week with the aim of strengthening the democratic process and spreading awareness among voters. The Election Literacy Club was formed with the aim of achieving the target of 100% voting in the areas around the university. The function concluded with the national anthem.

# National Voter's Day Week inaugurated at CUSB

The National Voter's Day Week was inaugurated at the Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) on Monday (20 January 2025). Vice Chancellor Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh inaugurated the week-long awareness campaign from the administrative building of CUSB. Faculty members and students from various faculties of the university were present in this event. In his address, the Vice Chancellor highlighted the importance of democracy and the importance of ethical voting in pithy words. He said that the organization of National Voter's Day Week at CUSB reflects faith in democracy. The university is committed to preparing responsible citizens. Further, under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Singh, the professors, staff and students present at the venue took the voter's oath in which everyone expressed their commitment to democracy and ethical voting.

The National Voter's Day Week was organised by the university's student-run unit 'Team Smile' under the guidance of the Department of Political Studies. The week long program was organized between January 20 and January 25, 2025 under the supervision of Professor Pranav Kumar, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences. Before the oath-taking ceremony, Team Smile organized an awareness march to commemorate the National Voter's Day Week. The march started from Chanakya Bhawan and passed through various buildings of the university campus and reached the Administrative Building. Before the start of the march, Professor Pranav Kumar (Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences) in his brief address highlighted the important role of youth in strengthening democracy. After this, DSW (Dean of Student Welfare) Professor Pawan Kumar Mishra flagged off the march. Professor Mishra inspired the students to be a part of the democratic process and to have a sense of pride towards democracy. Prof. Praveen Kumar, Prof. K. Sivasankar, Dr. Manglesh Kumar Mangalam, Dr. Abhay Kumar, Dr. Abodh Kumar, Dr. Rajesh Pratap Singh, Dr. Pawan Kumar Singh, Dr. Kumari Neetu, Dr. Priya Ranjan, Dr. Joginder Singh Chauhan, Mrs. Renu, Dr. Chandana Shubha and many other dignitaries were present in the closing ceremony of the march. Student members of Team Smile namely Atul Pathak, Ashish Dwivedi, Aastha, Suraj Kumar Sharma, Akanksha and Sonia, Aman, Ankesh played an important role in making this event successful.

Mock election organized under National Voter's Day Week at CUSB

A mock election was organized with the aim to achieve the target of 100% voting in the areas around the university. In the program organized under the aegis of Team Smile, students were made to understand the nuances of the democratic process and the electoral system. Through this program, students were motivated to understand democratic values ​​and propagate the importance of voting in the society. Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Pranav Kumar, Prof. Praveen Kumar, Dr. Abhay Kumar, Dr. Sumit Kumar Pathak, and Dr. Pawan Kumar Singh, Dr. Abodh Kumar, Dr. Kumari Neetu, Dr. Neha Shukla, Mrs. Renu etc. were present.

At the beginning of the program, the students presented their views and made their statements on various issues related to the election nuances. The participants impressed the people present with their creativity and logic, which included Chetna, Saumya, Preeti, Himanshu, Gyan, Zahra, Sushant, Simran etc. After this, a mock election was organized in which the students and the audience present took part in the voting process. 

Debate competition organized in CUSB on the issue of one nation, one election

Under the National Voter's Day Week, a debate competition was organized on the topic 'one nation, one election'. The purpose of this event was to test the understanding of the students on the important issue of elections. Dean of Student Welfare (DSW) Prof. Pawan Kumar Mishra, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Registrar of the University Prof. Pranav Kumar, Program Coordinator Prof. Praveen Kumar, Dr. Abhay Kumar, Dr. Sumit Kumar Pathak, Dr. Pawan Kumar Singh, Dr. Kumari Neetu, Dr. Aditya Mohanty, Dr. Arpana, Mrs. Renu and other professors and students were present in the program.

24 teams participated in the debate competition and the participating students presented their views on various dimensions related to the issue of one nation one election. The participants impressed the people present with their creativity and logic. During the debate, the participants presented their views in favor and against the topic 'One Nation, One Election'. The supporters of One Nation One Election argued that this scheme will reduce administrative expenses, simplify the electoral process and accelerate developmental work. On the other hand, the speakers speaking in opposition expressed concern that this may weaken the rights of regional parties and it may be challenging to focus on different issues of Lok Sabha and Assembly. Ultimately it was concluded that "One Nation, One Election" will prove to be a milestone in the electoral politics of India. The teams performing well in this competition conducted in several stages will be rewarded.
