The Department of Geography of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) organised a one-day pre-conference workshop on ‘Application of Geo-Spatial Technology for Viksit Bharat’. The workshop was organised under the supervision of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh by the convenor Prof. Kiran Kumari, Head, Department of Geography, CUSB.
The chief guest Prof. Subhakanta Mohapatra, Department of Geography, IGNOU, New Delhi, delivered an inspiring speech on the role and potential applications of geo-spatial technologies. Prof. Mohaptra shared some of the examples of use of geo-spatial technologies in day-to-day life. Prof. Rizwanul Haque, Dean, School of Earth, Biological, and Environmental Sciences (SEBES), CUSB said Geo-Spatial Technology has widespread application beyond the environment and it is touching everyone’s life such as tracking of road routes. These days land survey of Bihar is done by the government by using the technology, said Prof. Haque. The Guest of Honour, Ms. Anamika Das, Head - Advocacy and Strategic Programs, ESRI India Technologies Private Limited, highlighted the significance of geo-spatial technologies.
The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from research scholars, faculty members from various departments, and students. It also featured insightful lectures given by Dr. Jogindar Singh Chauhan and Dr. Sunita Singh, both assistant professors at department of Geography at CUSB. The event was compered by Dr. Manjit Singh, Associate Professor, Geography and concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Jogindar Singh Chauhan, Assistant Professor, Geography.
