International Women's Day Week at CUSB, March 03 - 08, 2025

Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) celebrated International Women's Day Week with the aim of promoting gender equality and social responsibility. Under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh, many programs will be organized in the university under the International Women's Day Week on this year's theme 'Voices Unmuted: Women Reshaping Society', the theme aims to highlight the contribution of women and increase dialogue on gender equality. The week was formally inaugurated by Registrar Prof. Narendra Kumar Rana as the chief guest with the inauguration of the Women's Gallery at the university. The Registrar said that this university has been committed to promoting gender equality since its inception. Today women are continuously performing excellently in every field, be it social, economic, political or educational field and the role of women will be important in achieving the goal of Developed India 2047.

Day 1:- 

The inaugural ceremony of International Women's Day week was organized under the aegis of the Legal Aid Clinic operating under the School of Law and Governance (SLG). The week-long celebration of International Women's Day is being organized by Legal Aid Clinic Coordinator Dr. Surendra Kumar, Co-coordinators Dr. Anand Prakash Narayan and Dr. Chandana Suba under the supervision of SLG Dean and Head of Department Prof. Ashok Kumar. DSW Prof. Pawan Kumar Mishra, Prof. Pradeep Kumar Das, Dr. Kumari Neetu, Dr. Neha Shukla, Dr. Anurag Agarwal along with other professors and students of the department were present in the program.

A historical timeline showing important milestones in the struggle for women's rights was presented at the inaugural ceremony, which includes the women's revolt in 1948, the women's movement in America in 1909, and women getting the right to vote in Russia in 1917. The event also reflected the global scenario of International Women's Day, which was officially recognized by the United Nations in 1977 and March 8 was chosen to commemorate the demonstrations by Russian women for empowerment.

The event also had a special segment called "Letters to Future Women", in which attendees wrote messages imagining a more inclusive world. Additionally, an interactive scanner called "Noor and Notes" digitally displayed stories of inspiring women, while on the "I am a Woman on a Mission" board, faculty and students publicly expressed their commitment to women's empowerment. The day's events concluded with the performance of a street play "Vadh", which was based on women empowerment and the struggle against gender-based injustice. The event was conducted by student coordinators Mohd. Arham, Akanksha Kumari, Pranav Yadav, Utsav Kumar, Sarvagya Nand Sharma, Suyash Vishwakarma, Kaushik Kumar.

Day 2:- 

The second day was inaugurated by Dr. Surendra Kumar, coordinator of the university's legal aid clinic. On this occasion, he stressed the importance of understanding the experiences of women and realizing their struggles. He referred to a case and said that a son remains a son only until he gets a wife and a daughter remains a daughter throughout her life. The main objective of the program is to highlight the contribution of women and increase the dialogue on gender equality.

At the beginning of the program, Abhiyan Samiti coordinator Nandini gave an inaugural speech and introduced the program. After this, Tanisha Roy and Rifat Hayat introduced the theme of the program "Walking in Her Shoes" in Hindi language. Explaining the importance of this theme, he said that this competition is a medium to highlight the struggles of women, their achievements and various aspects of their lives. The second phase of the programme was “Vlogging Documentary” which was organised at Moot Court Hall with the theme “Walking in Her Shoes”. The aim of the documentary was to showcase the challenges, struggles and successes of women in society from their perspective. The participants depicted the everyday lives of women through vlogging and highlighted their struggles, experiences and achievements. Students from various faculties of the university participated enthusiastically in the vlogging and presented various aspects of women empowerment in a creative manner.

Inspirational stories related to women empowerment were presented in the form of vlogging documentaries. The vlogging documentary asked questions to students in the university campus to know their views on women empowerment. In this discussion, students shared their views on the achievements of women, their role in society and efforts being made towards gender equality.

Day 3:- 

On the third day also, various programs were organized with joy and enthusiasm. The main attractions of this day were open mic, puzzle solving activity and canvas painting competition, in which students participated enthusiastically. The program started with open mic, which was inaugurated by Dr. Surendra Kumar, coordinator of legal aid clinic, with an inspirational speech. He started his address by mentioning the changes in the legal system after Nirbhaya. He also told that despite these efforts, the figures of NCRB are showing an increase in crimes against women. Emphasizing on women empowerment, he said that in Indian society, women are considered as worshipable as goddess. Quoting the famous Sanskrit saying - "Yatra naryastu pujyante, ramante tatra devata:", he talked about the respect and rights of women. After this, Shivangi presented her poem "Meri beti ke lyak ho aisa samaj" and moved the audience. Isha Prakash also described women as a symbol of power and education through her poem. In the same sequence, Ramanand Raman expressed his views on women empowerment, describing women as the embodiment of love and faith. Vaishnavi Giri stressed the need to give equal status to women, while Nandini gave the message of breaking the stereotypes prevalent in the society. Dr. Chandana Suba said in her statement that society is incomplete without women.

After this, “Puzzle: The Missing Key” activity was organized, in which the students presented inspirational messages on women empowerment through the message box after solving the puzzle. This program was conducted under the guidance of Nandini and Kumari Sugandha, while Rituparna Singh and Sadvi Vidyottama successfully completed it. In the second phase of the festival, a canvas painting competition was organized, the theme of which was “Silent Scream”. A large number of students participated in it and exposed the truths of the society through their art. Program coordinator Kumari Sugandha encouraged the participants, ensuring the success of this event. Shiva Rani, Preeti Suman, Tanu, Shivangi, Kanak and Richa displayed their art in the canvas painting competition. Ankita Roy, Anmol and Suruchi participated in the puzzle solving competition. Dr. Anurag Aggarwal participated in the puzzle solving activity and performed excellently.

Day 4:- 

On the fourth day a powerful ramp walk event was organized in three impressive stages at the university campus under the theme “Power Through Fashion”. The first stage on professional empowerment showcased women as professionals in male dominated fields like doctors, engineers and lawyers. The second stage paid tribute to famous women, including Kalpana Chawla by Tanushree Ma, Indira Gandhi by Saloni Priya, Gangubai by Kristen Jeet and Rani Laxmibai by Anushka Anand. The final episode had a powerful and symbolic performance where Shri Vangi Kumari played the role of a woman who came with shackles on her hands and blindfold, symbolically depicting the oppression faced by women in the past. She was followed by other women carrying kitchen utensils and brooms, including Saloni Nayan, Diksha Kumari, Karishma Kumari and Akanksha Bharti, who symbolized the roles traditionally assigned to women. As she walked down the ramp, her shackles broke, symbolising the breaking of societal shackles, and she emerged as a strong, independent woman, a doctor, engineer and lawyer.

Day 5:- 

On the fifth day, an awareness camp on the topic “A better tomorrow begins with women’s health today” was organized by the members of the Legal Aid Clinic in Fatehpur village adjacent to the university campus. In this program, Dr. Richa Bhardwaj (Shubhkamna Hospital) and Dr. Neha Singh Thakur made women aware about their health. Dr. Neha emphasized the importance of tetanus vaccine during pregnancy and told that it is necessary to get this vaccine twice a month to prevent infection. She advised women to consume iron and folic acid after delivery, so that anemia can be prevented and their children do not have to face health problems in the future. Women discussed many of their health problems, especially the problems related to joint pain and other complications during pregnancy. Program coordinators Nandini and Sugandha along with Deepanjali Agarwal, Kumari Pragya, Tanisha Roy, Anjali Kumari, Kajal Saini, Anushka Anand, Monica Gupta, Kanak, Rituparna Singh, Sadhvi Vidyottama, Anjali Raj, Prachi Goyal, Arya Singh, Lokeshwari Patel, Muskan Kumari and other members made significant contributions to the successful organization of this program.

Day 6 (Valedictory Session) :- 

In the valedictory session, as the chief guest in the programme, Prof. SP Srivastava expressed his views on the role and respect of women in the society and said that personality should be respected in the society and at the same time we should acquire more knowledge than information. Dr. Kumari Neetu expressed her views on the role of women and said that women should not be seen as a role or relationship but as their identity. Dr. Chandana Suba discussed the status of women in society in the context of "Aurat Ka Ghar" while Mr. Mani Pratap (Assistant Professor) also shared his views. Dr. Surendra Kumar, the clinic coordinator, spoke about the changes in the status of women from the time of the Indian Army to the present and emphasized on women empowerment.

Next, a documentary prepared by law student Sagar and his team on equal cooperation between men and women was screened. Nandini, Sugandha and Sagar explained in detail that cooperation and equality between men and women can give a new direction to society. Rifat then discussed in detail the contribution of women in society. Gudiya Kumari gave an inspiring message about the struggle of women in society and their rights through her powerful poems. Rifat gave another special presentation in which he highlighted the importance of education for girls through a story. The program also saw the screening of the weekly recap video prepared by Kaushal, which summarized the events of the entire week. The ceremony concluded with the "Samman Session" in which women members Pratipraana Singh, Sadhvi Diyottama, Tanisha Roy, Rifat Hayat and other women members, program coordinators Sugandha Dabe and Nandini were also thanked for their work. On this occasion, program coordinators Sugandha Dave and Nandini Kumari and Vaishnavi Giri were also honored.
