Pre-Placement Talk in collaboration with Bihar Vikas Collective (BVC) at Dept. of Sociological Studies, March 07, 2025
The Department of Sociological Studies, Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) organized a Pre-Placement Talk in collaboration with Bihar Vikas Collective (BDC). The program, organized under the supervision of Head of Department Prof. M Vijay Kumar Sharma, was aimed at providing information to final semester students about internship opportunities, pre-placement opportunities and other collaborative activities like workshops for junior batches.
BDC is an association of 40 organizations working in various social development fields. Three representatives of BDC, Mr. Yogendra, Ms. Puja and Mr. Alok attended the program. Mr. Yogendra's organization works for HIV and mental health patients through helpline services. Ms. Puja runs Shamtalaya Foundation, an education-based organization operating in Rajasthan and Bihar for the last three years; and Mr. Alok leads the Nalanda Charitable Organization, focusing on disbursing grants for social initiatives. The three BDC representatives shared their extensive experiences with the students in the pre-placement talk and highlighted the impressive work of their respective organizations. They elaborated on their ongoing projects in Bihar, expectations from the students, and how the collective network of BDC organizations collaborates to bring about positive change in the region. The interaction provided valuable insight to the students about the functioning of grassroots organizations and their contribution to society. The session also featured a Q&A session, where BDC members answered students’ queries about the nature of work, internship expectations, and the benefits of working within the BDC ecosystem.
The event was organized by the Head of the Department, Prof. M. Vijay Kumar Sharma, along with faculty members, Prof. Anilkumar Singh Jha, Dr. Samapika Mohapatra, Dr. Haresh Narayan Pandey, Dr. Jitendra Ram, Dr. APA Kabir, Dr. Parijata Pradhan, Dr. Priya Ranjan and Dr. Aditya Mohanty were present. The professors discussed with the BDC members about the establishment of BDC, its contribution in Bihar and how the students of social work can benefit from their participation.
