Students of Pro Bono Club of CUSB conducted awareness campaign on “No Smoking Day” at Dariyapur village

The Pro Bono Club under the School of Law and Governance of the University in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS) of the University conducted a special awareness campaign at Dariyapur village on the occasion of “No Smoking Day”. The program was led by Prof. Ashok Kumar, Head and Dean of School of Law and Governance and Nodal Officer of Pro Bono Club Dr. Deo Narayan Singh. The purpose of this campaign was to aware the villagers about the ill effects of smoking.

The program started with the inaugural ceremony by Deepanjali Agarwal. After this, Nodal Officer of Pro Bono Club, CUSB Dr. Deo Narayan Singh addressed the gathering. He made people aware about the serious effects of smoking on health and the social and economic losses caused by it. He also interacted with the people of the village. After this, student Shikha highlighted the ill effects of smoking and ways to quit it through her impressive speech. Her views deeply influenced the villagers.

The students also presented a street play, which effectively depicted the dangers of smoking. Himanshu Kumar, Mamtesh Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Deepanshu Raj, Vaishnavi Kumari, Rupa Kumari, Riya Kumari, Ripu Kumari and Mini Sinha participated in this play. The diseases caused by smoking, its effect on the family and its ill effects in the society were highlighted in the play.

National Service Scheme (NSS) student Nikhil and Pro Bono Club student Rupa recited inspirational poems against smoking, which was well appreciated by the audience. The National Service Scheme (NSS) students of the university also participated enthusiastically in this program.

At the end of the program, Sanjeev Kumar gave a vote of thanks and inspired everyone to take a pledge to quit smoking and spread awareness against it. This campaign proved to be an important initiative for the villagers of Dariyapur, in which the youth played an important role in giving the message of social change.
