Awareness program on Tuberculosis (TB) organizedby Sehat Kendra of CUSB, March 25, 2025
An awareness program on Tuberculosis (TB) was organized under the aegis of Sehat Kendra of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB). This awareness program was organized under the leadership of Health Center Nodal Officer Dr. Prashant was attended by CUSB Medical Officer Dr. Avnish Kumar Mridul as the keynote speaker. The programme Dr. Jawaid Ahsan, Dr. Amrita Srivastava and Dr. Chandra Prabha Pandey along with professors of various departments and more than 120 students participated in the programme.
In his address Dr. Avnish Kumar Mridul gave detailed information on the symptoms of tuberculosis, its causes, prevention and treatment. He said that tuberculosis is an infectious disease, which is caused by infection of a bacteria called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It mainly affects the lungs, but can also affect other body parts such as bones, kidneys and brain. Dr. Mridul said that the main symptoms of tuberculosis include cough for more than two weeks, blood in sputum, rapid weight loss, night sweats, loss of appetite and constant fatigue. If a person shows these symptoms, then a doctor should be consulted immediately. Highlighting the measures to prevent tuberculosis, he said that BCG vaccination, balanced diet, avoiding crowded places, wearing a mask and getting the infected person treated as soon as possible are very important. The government is providing free testing and treatment facilities, which should be adopted by all people.
On this occasion, Dr. Prashant, Nodal Officer of Sehat Kendra said that there is no wealth greater than health and the Health Center of the University organizes health awareness programs from time to time, so that the students can be made aware of various diseases and their prevention. He appealed to the students to be cautious about their health and take necessary steps to prevent diseases like tuberculosis.
