In a remarkable achievement for Indian academia, the Department of Psychological Sciences at the Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) have secured a prestigious opportunity to present their research at the American Psychological Association (APA) 2025 Convention. The highly anticipated event will be held in Denver, USA, from August 7, 2025. The distinguished research team—comprising Dr. Chetna Jaiswal, Prof. Dharmendra Kumar Singh and Mr. Unnikannan P. Santhosh Kumar will showcase their work on one of the most prominent global platforms in psychology. Their selection underscores the rising academic contributions of Indian scholars and highlights the transformative potential of India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Pioneering Research on Decolonizing Education: The study, titled “Decolonizing Minds and Education: A Critical Discernment of India's Transformative NEP 2020,” has been accepted under Division 15 – Educational Psychology, for a Critical Conversation session that offers Continuing Education (CE) credit. This recognition is reserved for discussions that demonstrate high academic rigor and significant real-world impact that includes the discussion of minimum 40 minutes.
Dr Jaiswal told that this research critically analyses NEP 2020’s approach to dismantling colonial legacies in education by promoting indigenous knowledge systems, inclusivity, and holistic learning methodologies. It explores how the policy seeks to align India’s educational framework with global standards while fostering critical thinking rooted in the nation’s socio-cultural and political contexts. Additionally, the study examines the broader implications of decolonizing education in shaping national identity and cognitive liberation in post-colonial societies.
