The Institution Innovation Council (IIC) of CUSB organized a special international online seminar on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. In the program organized under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh, lectures were given by experts on two important topics respectively “Role of government in reforms in the education sector: Malawi's perspective” “Role of government in promoting innovation in educational institutions: Quebec's perspective”. The event was chaired by IIC President Prof. Venkatesh Singh and inaugurated under the guidance of Prof. Praveen Kumar (Coordinator, Public Policy and Public Opinion Cell). Dr. Kumari Neetu, Department of Law, CUSB actively participated in the successful organization of the program. The online program brought together professors, researchers, students of CUSB as well as people from the academic field from across the country and the world.
The keynote speaker, Dr. Maureen L. Kapanga (Educationist, Malawi), highlighting the social, economic and historical aspects of Malawi's education system, explained how the government there has made committed efforts to improve education since 1964. She also discussed in depth Malawi's international commitments, policy interventions and the role of public-private partnerships. Her views made it clear that education reform is a long-term, coordinated effort. The second speaker, Ms. Zahya Idrisi, University of Sherbrooke, Quebec (Canada), made a detailed analysis of Quebec's policy of linking education with innovation, especially the Project-Based Learning (PBL) model. She explained how higher education institutions in Canada, in collaboration with industries, connect students with practical solutions to problems, thereby creating a strong connection between education and employment. He suggested that international models can be inspired according to local needs by adopting a comparative approach for India.
IIC student coordination team members Aarohi, Kumari Pragya Mishra, Pratibha, Priyanshu Kant, Abhishek Chandan and Aarush played a strong role in conducting the program online. A vote of thanks was presented at the end of the program in which all the speakers, coordinators, faculty members, technical partners, and participants were thanked.
