To elevate the university's digital presence, the Website Management Committee is excited to propose a university-level competition open to all students, including research scholars. This initiative is a celebration of student talent, designed to leverage our community's creativity and technical skills to deliver a website characterized by comprehensive information, authentic representation, and universal accessibility. The primary goal of this initiative is to address existing limitations through student innovation, providing students with an opportunity to showcase their talents in web design and development.
The key objectives of the proposed events are as follows:
- Authentic Representation: Showcases the university's unique culture and academic excellence through contemporary visual storytelling and consistent branding.
- Intuitive Navigation: Streamlines the information architecture so students, faculty, and visitors can locate resources quickly and effortlessly.
- Responsive Design: Adapts content fluidly to any screen size, guaranteeing a flawless experience across mobile phones, tablets, and desktops.
- Universal Accessibility: Ensures the digital environment is inclusive and usable for people of all abilities, adhering to global standards like WCAG.
- Scalability: Utilizes a flexible technical framework that allows the website to grow and evolve alongside the university’s future needs easily.
Event Overview: University Website Redesign & Optimization Challenge
The program comprises three distinct rounds, initiated by a workshop (date to be announced later), intended to foster widespread engagement before the two competitive phases.
Participants
The competition is open to all students of CUSB, including research scholars of all the departments. Participation may be permitted on an individual basis or as collaborative teams comprising a maximum of three members.
Registration: Registration for the competition starts from 14th February 2026
Round 1: Inaugural Round
The inaugural session is scheduled on 24th February 2026 in the Department of Computer Science. In this session, we will utilize the opportunity to engage with prospective participants and orient them regarding the technical and other aspects of the forthcoming competition.
Round 2: Preliminary Submission and Technical Evaluation
In this phase, all participating teams are required to submit their comprehensive design proposals and functional prototypes by 20 March 2026. These submissions will undergo a rigorous assessment by a designated technical committee on 25th March 2026, focusing on adherence to the earlier defined key objectives of the event. Based on this evaluation, some exemplary entries will be shortlisted to advance to the final stage. These entries may be asked to incorporate the suggestions provided by the technical committee.
Round 3: Final Presentation and Awards
The shortlisted finalists will present their refined prototypes to an expert panel on 8th April 2026, demonstrating the practical efficacy and innovation of their solutions. This round will conclude with the selection of the top three winning individuals or teams, whose contributions best exemplify the objectives of a modern, inclusive, and optimized university website. These suggested objectives include criteria such as:
- Academic information clarity
- User-friendly Design (UI/UX)
- Mobile Responsiveness
- Content Quality and Accuracy
- Transparency and Compliance
- Student and Staff Support Features
- Accessibility and Inclusivity
- Security & Privacy
- Performance and Technical Standards
- Institutional Branding and Engagement
The top three finalists will be awarded cash prizes, while the others will receive participation certificates from the university.
