CUSB Celebrates its 17th Foundation Day with a Pledge of Self-Reliant India

The Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) celebrated its 17th Foundation Day with great pomp and show on Friday, February 27, 2026. Organized under the patronage of CUSB Vice Chancellor Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh, the event was attended by Shri Ganga Prasad, former Governor of Sikkim and Meghalaya, as the Chief Guest. In his address, Shri Ganga Prasad stated that India is rapidly progressing towards a 'Self-Reliant India'. The role of higher educational institutions is crucial in this campaign. He stated that CUSB has done remarkable work in the field of education and research, and that the university has given Bihar a new identity at the national level. The Chief Guest praised the university's achievements and called it a strong pillar in building a self-reliant India. Addressing the students, he clearly stated that education is not just a means to personal success; education is the foundation of nation-building. He said, "Many people have contributed to the development of your personality. Now it is your responsibility to give back to society and the nation with your knowledge and skills." Giving the message of "Duty is Dharma," he inspired students to be aware of their responsibilities. He urged teachers to prepare students to become sensitive, responsible, and dutiful citizens. Education's true purpose is fulfilled only when it is linked to the development of society.

In his presidential address, CUSB Vice Chancellor Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh detailed the university's 17-year journey of development. He informed that the university has received an A++ grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The University Grants Commission has included it in the list of Category-1 universities. He said that this achievement is the result of the collective efforts of the entire university family. Prof. Singh said that Foundation Day is not merely a formal event; it is an opportunity for introspection and charting a future course. He explained that the university was established under the 2009 Act with the vision to make Bihar a leader in the field of education and re-establish India as a world leader. The university's goal is not just to grant degrees but to develop good human beings and responsible citizens. Referring to the university's academic achievements, the Vice Chancellor stated that the Law Department has achieved 23rd position in the national NIRF rankings. The Pharmacy Department has achieved 63rd position in the national NIRF rankings. He said that achieving such achievements in such a short period of time is a matter of pride. He expressed confidence that the university will reach even greater heights in the coming years. He also stated that self-reliant universities are essential for building a self-reliant nation. When universities prioritize research, innovation, and skill development, the country becomes stronger.

On this occasion other distinguished guests Mr. Gopal Narayan Singh, Chancellor, Gopal Narayan Singh University, Jamuhar; Prof. Shashi Pratap Shahi, Vice Chancellor, Magadh University, Bodhgaya; and Mr. Shishir Sinha, Vice Chancellor, Bihar Sports University, Rajgir; also addressed the gathering at CUSB's Milkha Singh Stadium. The university campus was filled with celebrations on the occasion of Foundation Day. Students from all departments set up stalls showcasing their department's achievements, research projects, and innovations under the guidance of their teachers. Major attractions included guest lectures, a CUSB pride story exhibition, a departmental achievement exhibition, a traditional sports exhibition, a handicraft exhibition, a school student tour, an agro tour, and a food junction. The foundation day celebrations concluded with a cultural extravaganza in the evening.
