CUSB faculty members from Dept. of Sociological Studies attended International Conference in Singapore and Malaysia
Faculty members namely, Dr. Jitendra Ram, Dr. Haresh Narayan Pandey and Dr. Parijat Pradhan from the Department of Sociological Studies of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) participated in the 3rd International Conference organized by South Asian Sociological Society at Singapore and Malaysia this past week. As the resource person, Dr. Jitendra Ram, Associate Professor, Sociological Studies, presented the paper titled ‘Social Exclusion and Status Formation among Dalits: An Empirical Study’. Along with this, Dr. Ram chaired a technical session and also contributed as a resource person in the plenary session of the conference.

As a resource person, Dr. Haresh Narayan Pandey presented his research paper titled "Globalization, Indian Knowledge Systems, and Cultural Dynamics: A Classical Perspective." This paper sheds light on the philosophical understanding of human life within the context of Indian Knowledge Systems, placing special emphasis not merely on material achievements in life, but also on the spiritual growth and advancement of individuals—factors capable of fostering lasting peace and prosperity. In the contemporary global landscape—replete with conflict, violence, dominance, oppression, duality, tension, and heightened ego—this subject holds immense relevance. Dr. Pandey also participated as a resource person in Plenary Session-3, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, addressing the topic "Eurocentric Epistemology in South Asia." Furthermore, he co-chaired a session titled "Science, Technology, and Society: Rethinking Knowledge, Power, and Innovation for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future." He also placed particular emphasis on networking with various global universities to foster academic teaching, research collaboration, and professional excellence at CUSB.
Dr. Parijat Pradhan, Assistant Professor, Sociological Studies, presented his research paper entitled ‘Identity, Human Rights and Social Justice: An analysis in inequalities of Modern Societies’ as a resource person. He also co- chaired a technical plenary session in the same conference. In his address Dr. Pradhan highlighted the fact for an inclusive policy of development based on Constitutional powers and the rights-based approach for Social and distributive justice. He also stressed for more empirical field-based studies to understand the diverse social realities apart from textual interpretations based on the Indological approach.
This year the theme of the International Conference was ‘Science, Technology and Society: Rethinking Knowledge, Power and Innovation for a Sustainable and Inclusive Future’. This conference was attended by the various scholars, academicians, policy makers, NGO persons from the countries of South Asian regions such as, Mauritius, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, etc. Total 55 resource persons have participated in this conference with diverse themes ranging from Indian Knowledge System, New Education Policy 2020, Environment and Development, Social justice and Human rights issues, etc.
