Collaborative UGC-DAE Research grant of approximately Rs 15 Lakhs to Dr. Rohit Ranjan of CUSB
The research proposal of Dr. Rohit Ranjan Shahi of the Department of Physics of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) has been approved under the UGA-DAE Collaborative research Grant. Under this project of value approximately Rs. 15 lakh, a joint investigation will be performed for the excellent magnetic High entropy materials for advanced applications in modern Electric vehicle, data storage and memory devices. CUSB Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh, Prof. Narendra Kumar Rana, Registrar and other faculty members have congratulated Dr. Shahi and his research team. VC Prof. K. N. Singh said such joint collaborative research will be definitely beneficial for the university and the country. Dean School of Physical and chemical sciences, and other faculty of the department congratulated Dr. Shahi for his achievement.
Dr. Shahi did extensive work on magnetic properties of multi-component alloys in the last five years, and two Ph.D. students completed their thesis on Magnetic High Entropy alloys. Dr. Shahi dedicated this achievement to his Ph.D. Students Dr. Rajesh Mishra, Mrs. Priyanka Kumari and Mr. Shashikant Mohapatra. Elaborating further Dr. Ranjan said under this project, research will be focused on the magnetic behavior of High Entropy Alloys. New magnetic alloys and their thin films will be searched to minimize the eddy current loss. Transformers are used in each and every electrical and electronic device any small change in the transformer performance can enhance the efficiency of the device in many folds. Moreover, most of the commercial core magnets are made of Rare Earth based elements which are imported from China and Russia. Thus, this project will be able to fulfill the Make-In –India initiative of GOI. Under this collaborative project, the design and development of novel multi-component high entropy magnets will be executed at CUSB and all detailed magnetic measurements will be performed at IUAC Indore.
