Three days (27-29th January, 2021) Online Training Program on the Topic ‘’ Basics of Disaster Management”
The department of Geology, Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) Gaya, organized a three days (27-29th January, 2021) online training program on the topic ‘Basics of Disaster Management’ with collaboration National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), New Delhi.
Day-1 , 27 January 2021
Dr. Prafull Kumar Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Geology, CUSB, Gaya convened the training program and highlights the importance disaster management and hosted the inaugural session of the training program. Professor. Ram Kumar, Dean School of Earth, Biological and Environmental sciences emphasized on importance of natural hazards in Bihar particularly flood and drought and vulnerability mapping. Professor. D.K.Pandey, Head, Department of Geology, highlights need of disaster management practices and anthropogenic disasters. Professor. Venktesh Singh, Dean School of Physical Sciences presented his views on disaster management and need of good research practices on disaster mitigation and management.
Dr. Sushma Gularia, Assistant Professor, NIDM, Delhi, presented her comprehensive work on basics of disaster management and its various type, act and regulation in disaster management and explained the detail on disaster mitigation and management cycle. Dr. Sanjay Rana, Managing Director, PARSAN, New Delhi highlights the potential of Geophysics and GPR technology in disaster management and microzonation of earth quake and development of early warning system. Dr. Vikal Kumar Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Geology, moderated the question answer. More than 200 participants from various university and research organizations are participated in online training program.
Day-2, 28 January 2021
On the second day after formal inauguration of the online training programme by Dr. Prafull Kumar Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Geology, CUSB, Gaya. First talk was given by Dr. Sushma Gularia, Assistant Professor, NIDM, Delhi, she talk on cross-cutting concern in disaster management and various social and psychology aspect in disaster management. She also mentioned various preparedness, response and recovery aspect in disaster management. Dr. Prafull Singh, Department of Geology, Central University of South Bihar Gaya delivered his talk on landslide hazard zonation mapping and its importance in disaster management tools and techniques. He mentioned that integrated manner approach needs to be follow for disaster management and people participation and outreach training program must be organized to trained the peoples. He also highlighted various aspect of flood and drought management in Bihar area including application of space technology. Dr. Vikal Kumar Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Geology, moderated the question answer. More than 200 participants from various university and research organizations are participated training program.
Day-3, 29 January 2021
On the third and last day of training program after formal inauguration of the online training program by Dr. Prafull Kumar Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Geology, CUSB, Gaya. Dr. Rajnish Ranjan, Senior Consultant (e-learning) at the National Institute of Disaster Management talked about the emerging trends of Disaster Management in the country wherein he touched upon various aspects paradigm shifts in Disaster Risk Management Approaches in the country. He also spoke about issues and challenges of Disaster Management in the country. In the second half of the session, he spoke about the role of weather data & forecasts in the generation and dissemination of early warning system in the country. In concluding remarks Dr. Prafull Singh from CUSB brief the findings of each day of training program and he suggested that such tanning are very important for understand the basic and advances in disaster management. Dr. Singh lastly thanks to every participant, expert and faculty member for their presence and support during the training program.
