Dr. Rupesh Kumar Gupta is an Associate Professor of Geography at the School of Earth, Biological, and Environmental Science, Central University of South Bihar, Gaya. Previously, he was an Assistant Professor at the Constituents College of the University of Delhi. He obtained his M. A., M. Phil, and Ph.D. in Geography, as well as his M. Tech. in Remote Sensing. He received the Engineering and Technology Award (JRF) by UGC, Young Researcher Travel Award by IUSSP France, and Young Scientist Award at the 8th Asian Urbanization Conference by the Asian Urban Research Association (AURA), held in Japan. He is a member of several prestigious academic societies. He is currently involved in teaching and research in the fields of urban and regional planning, sustainable urban environment and development, Land Use Dynamics, Urban Crime, UHI’s, remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS).
Dr. Gupta's research interests include urban and regional planning, remote sensing, GIS, Land Use Land Cover Mapping and Change Detection, urban sprawl, spatial and behavioural mapping of crime, urban heat island, etc. His main areas of interest include the dynamics of land use, slums, commuter crime analysis, the urban environment, and sustainable urban planning and development.
