Guest Lecture by Prof. Rajesh Rajshekhar on Alternative Perspective in Social Sciences
The Department of Sociological Studies, School of Social Sciences and Policy, Central university of South Bihar ( CUSB) organised a Guest Lecture at on September 18th 2023,. Prof Rajesh Rajshekhar, Department of Sociology, Bangalore University was the speaker and spoke on the topic Alternative Perspective in Social Sciences.
Initially, Dr Aditya Mohanty welcomed the speaker, and Prof M Vijay Kumar Sharma, Head of Department introduced the speaker. Prof Rajshekher criticised the Indians who are engaged in following the western pattern of knowledge and thinking in social sciences. He emphasised that there are a lot of space and scope to think and propose new perspectives in social sciences based on Indian philosophy and knowledge system. He also oriented students to come out with innovative thought and practice. He stressed on to develop our own social sciences based on Indian knowledge system which is also accepted to western society.
In the last, the session was open to question and answer and students contributed by asking question from the speaker. And students from all sections Ph D, MA in Sociology and MSW from the Department participated in it.
All the teachers Prof Anil Kumar Singh Jha, Dr Sanat Kumar Sharma, Dr Jitendra Ram, Dr Haresh Narayan Pandey, Dr Parijat Pradhan, Dr Priya Ranjan actively participated in the talk. Dr Mohanty, finally delivered the vote of thanks.
