Prof. Anil Kumar Singh Jha

Prof. Anil Kumar Singh Jha completed his M. A., M. Phil. and Ph. D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He is presently working as a Professor and Head in the Department of Sociological Studies, Central University of South Bihar, Gaya. He had also been associated with NCERT, New Delhi; SLBSRS Vidyapeetha (Deemed University), New Delhi; All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi; Indian Institute of Health Management Research, Jaipur and Mody University of Science and Technology (MUST), Lakshmangarh, Sikar in various capacities. He has authored six books, ‘Gender Equality in Bihar: Sound of Silence’, ‘Rethinking Gender Equality’, ‘Sociological Thinkers’, ‘Demography and Development: Challenges of Change’, ‘Brief Intervention: A Manual for Practice’ and ‘Amarnath Jha’. In addition to several book chapters, he has also contributed to numerous research articles. He has delivered a number of invited lectures as a Resource Person/Guest of Honour in different faculty development programmes, national and international conferences; and other academic events. Prof. Jha has developed 10 courses on “Sociology of Sanitation” for SwayamPrabha DTH 16 channel, the largest online repository in the world of courses in engineering, basic sciences and selected humanities and management subjects; it is a part of National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL).

He has guided/been guiding Ph.D. research scholars on various sociological issues. His teaching and research interests include gender, sociology of sanitation, social demography, social thought, etc. By actively involving in many projects including National Population Education Project, Reproductive and Child Health and National Family Health Survey; touching different social issues, his rich experience in the field with a blend of social research for more than twenty fruitful years allow him to delve deeper into the field. Dr. Jha has successfully organized National Webinar on “Sociology of Sanitation” (October 27, 2021), National Seminar on “Media Discourses and Indian Security: Perspectives on Social Concerns” (March 04-05, 2020), and National Seminar on “Rewriting Indian History: Challenges and Social Consequences” (February 24-25, 2020) as a Convener. Dr. Jha is member of various statutory, professionals and academic bodies; he is member of International Sociological Association, Research Committee on Women, Gender and Society-International Sociological Association; life member of Indian Sociological Society, Indian Political Science Association, Rajasthan Sociological Association, North West Indian Sociological Association, Social Sciences and Humanities Association and founder member of Managing Committee- Bihar Sociological Society.
