CUSB Media students won UNESCO award for documentary film ‘Weavers of Hope’

The students of Department of Mass Communication and Media of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) bagged UNESCO award for documentary film ‘Weavers of Hope’. The award was given to the director Shinjan Chatterjee at UNESCO Office in New Delhi on 24th November, 2023. The competition was jointly organised by United Nation Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and Commonwealth Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA). CUSB Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh congratulated the students for their achievement and appreciated the faculty members of the department for their guidance.

Prof. K. Shiva Shankar, Head of the department congratulated the students along with Prof. Atish Prashar, Dr. Kinshuk Pathak, Dr. Sujit Kumar, Dr. Anindya Deb and Dr. Ravi Suryavanshi. Hod Prof. Shankar said that the department has good resources to produce quality production. He said that in the coming days our hard-working students would bag more such awards.

The Documentary film “Weavers of Hope” has been awarded the Special recognition prize along with a cash prize. The students involved in the film making were Shinjan Chatterjee, Shivam Bhadani , Tooba Rahman , Pragati Kumari, Megha Kumari , Aditi Singhal , Richa kumari , Dikshit Singh and Sheelu Ragini.  Director of the film Shinjan Chatterjee said that the documentary film is based on the lives of weavers of Patwa Toli, Near Gaya. In the film students tried to give the message that how people living in tough situations with limited resources can excel with their hard work and commitment.
