Research paper of Dr. Rajkumar Sardar, Laboratory Assistant, CUSB published in the international journal “Microbiology”

The research paper of Dr. Rajkumar Sardar, working as Laboratory Assistant in the Department of Biotechnology of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB), has been published by the international journal “Microbiology”. Dr. Sardar, during his PhD research at CSIR-Central Salt and Marine Chemistry Research Institute, has discovered a marine microorganism that is resistant to high saline concentrations and has discovered its new properties. The research work was published in the Science Citation Index International Journal “Microbiology” published by Springer, a scientific discovery from Russia.

Dr. Raj Sardar’s research has refuted the fact that marine lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is toxic and has discovered that LPS has anti-oxidant properties. Due to anti-oxidant capacity, microorganisms are able to survive in the unusual marine environment by eliminating the effects of reactive chemicals. Dr. Sardar has claimed the possibility of using this non-toxic LPS as drugs, therapeutics and nutritional medicines in the future. At present, the problem like failure or ineffectiveness of antibiotics is being taken as a challenge in the world of science, for its alternative solution, selection, exploration and use of life-saving active substances from the vast reserves of the ocean can be adopted as an effective option.

Let it be known that the sea has always been a huge source of medicine and the ocean has a storehouse of valuable life-useful chemicals ranging from precious pearls to various types of chemicals that provide immortality. In his research, Dr. Sardar has mentioned detailed research on the collection, culture of the latest microorganisms from the Arabian Sea off the western Indian coast and the changed structure of their extracellular membrane. He has isolated the purest LPS from marine microalgae, used it, its effect on various deadly bacteria that spread infection through biofilm and conducted in-depth research on chemical processes like anti-oxidants and shared valuable results.
