Legal Awareness on New Hit & Run Laws by Legal Aid Clinic, CUSB, January 18-20, 2024

The Legal Aid Clinic of Central University of South Bihar conducted a legal awareness campaign under the patronage of Prof. K.N. Singh, Honourable Vice Chancellor, CUSB during January 18-20, 2024. It was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Sanjay Prakash Srivastava, (Dean, SLG, CUSB). Dr. Surendra Kumar (Associate Professor, SLG, CUSB), Coordinator, Legal Aid Clinic along with Co-Coordinators Dr. Anant Prakash Narayan (Assistant Professor, SLG, CUSB) and Dr. Chandana Subba (Assistant Professor, SLG, CUSB).

 

January 18, 2024: The campaign took place at Tekari bus stand. The aim of the campaign was to make the drivers and local people aware about new hit and run law. The new law comes in the backdrop of concerning figures related to road accidents in India. Section 106 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS) stipulates a penalty of up to 10 years in jail and a fine for fleeing an accident spot and failing to report the incident to a police officer or a magistrate. In this regard pamphlets were distributed, specially to the bus and auto drivers. Our coordinator wind up the campaign by addressing a crowd regarding the law. All the members also worked very enthusiastically toward this awareness campaign.

 

January 19, 2024: The campaign took place at Sekariya Mode Bus Stand in Gaya town.

 

January 20, 2024: The campaign took place at Dharamshala near University campus.
