National Road Safety Week PRO Bono Club of CUSB January 11-17, 2024

The Pro Bono Club of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) functioning under the School of Law & Governance (SLG) observed the Road Safety Week during January 11-17, 2024. During the week-long celebration organised under the mentorship of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh various activities were organised under the supervision of Pro Bono Club Nodal Officer Dr. Deo Narayan Singh (Assistant Professor, SLG) in company of Mr. Mani Pratap (Assistant Professor, SLG)

 

January 11, 2024: On the occasion of the Inauguration of National Road Safety Week, Pro Bono Club, CUSB organized a webinar on the first day, January 11, 2024. This webinar was led by the Nodal officer of Pro Bono Club CSUB, Dr. Deo Narayan Singh. The Chief Guest cum speaker for this webinar was Advocate Manoj Kumar Das (Advocate, Orissa High Court). Manoj Kumar Das addressed the students on the issues, challenges, laws, and policies related to road safety in India.Manoj Kumar initiated the discussion and stated, “Road safety is a significant challenge, and we need to be capable of understanding and resolving it.” He pointed out that the majority of accidents are caused by undisciplined driving and a lack of enforcement.

 

During the discussion, the chief guest also focused on the laws and policies related to road safety. He emphasized, “Strict adherence to traffic rules is crucial for improvement in road safety, and we should implement it rigorously.”

 

Towards the end of the webinar, he also emphasized the need for collective efforts from society to bring about positive changes in road safety. “We need prosperity and support to bring about positive changes in road safety,” he concluded. It is worth noting that students from Central South University Bihar actively participated in this webinar. They actively engaged in discussions and posed questions to the main guest, Advocate Manoj Kumar Das. 

 

Additionally, Dr. Mani Pratap, Assistant Professor at the School of Law and Governance of Central South University Bihar, expressed gratitude in a vote of thanks, contributing to the success of the webinar.

 

January 13: The Pro Bono Club members visited nearby areas of the University.  During the visit the group organized a pledge taking session on road safety in which local villagers also participated. The members of Pro Bono Club also  explained the importance of road safety. The spoke with the villagers about the importance of walking safely on the roads and motivated them to remain committed to it. The local villagers also provided a strong support to the program and resolved to come together to sensitize their fellow citizens towards safe road driving. Through this wonderful initiative, empowerment is taking place in the field of prosperity and security, which is a new ray of hope towards the security and prosperity of the villagers.

 

January 14, 2024: On the third day of Road Safety Week a webinar was conducted by Pro Bono Club. The main objective of this webinar was road safety and providing relief to accident victims. The chief guest of the webinar was Mr. P. S. Chakraborty, Chief Manager of National Insurance Company Limited. He delivered a detailed speech on road safety and providing relief to accident victims. In this webinar, he urged from the participants to sensitize the common people about the importance of road safety and insurance capabilities.


Mr. Chakraborty said, “It is an effective way to increase awareness on road safety and it requires community participation. He focused on the necessary measures and safety rules for safe driving so that the number of accidents can be reduced.” Apart from this, he informed about the insurance facilities to the accident victims and stressed the importance of new schemes launched by the company. The objective of these schemes is to provide comfortable and quick assistance to the victims, thereby providing them with quality medical facilities and financial support. This webinar is an important step towards providing support to road safety and victims in the community, which will lead to social upliftment and safe-enabled prosperity.

 

January 15, 2024: Under the Road Safety Week, a Slogan writing competition was organised for students at the University campus. In the “Slogan Writing Competition on Road Safety” the participating students created excellent slogans expressing their opinion on important issues of road safety.

The objective of this competition was to make students aware of the importance of road safety and to provide them an opportunity to express their views on this serious issue. The students beautifully expressed the message of road transport, following driving rules and raising awareness in their slogans. This competition was successful in creating a positive environment among the students and gave them a new perspective to increase their responsibility towards road safety.

 

January 17, 2024:

On the last day of Road Safety Week, students of Pro Bono Club, CUSB conducted a road safety campaign in Panchanpur. The team conducted an important campaign to understand the importance of road safety.  The main objective of this campaign was to create awareness about the importance of driving safely on the roads and to increase support for prevention of road accidents.

The students also made various presentations to the villagers to make them understand the importance of road safety, including correct ways to move and better ways to drive on the road. The students who participated in this campaign showed activism with the youth and children of Panchanpur and inspired them to cooperate in road safety. At the conclusion of the Road Safety Week, the students were supported by a common chairperson in all village talks.

Mr. Mani Pratap, Assistant Professor, SLG also made this campaign successful by participating in it. In this wonderful initiative, the policemen of Panchanpur Police Station also supported the students of Pro Bono Club in creating awareness about road safety and extended support to drive safely on the roads.
