Metabolic Syndrome Awareness and Screening Camp organized at CUSB under Fit India Week

 As per the instructions of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, Government of India, a special health camp was organized under the “Fit India Week” at the Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) on 13th December, 2023. Under the patronage of CUSB VC Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh, a health camp was organized to spread awareness about lifestyle related diseases and to examine the people affected by them. The health camp was conducted by Dr. Gaurav Kumar Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Physical Education and Dr. Jitendra Pratap Singh, Nodal Officer, Fit India. Health check-up of more than 100 university employees was done in the camp and proper health related advice was given to the affected persons.

 

The health camp started with the address of the Vice Chancellor in which he stressed on meeting the health related goals in India by the year 2047. Professor Singh called for organizing such health tests in various villages so that common people also get maximum benefits from it. Dr. Girish Singh, coordinator of the health check-up camp, said that metabolic syndrome is a condition in which a person has three or more of the following – obesity, high blood pressure, high sugar in the blood, deficiency of HDL in the blood and excess of triglycerides. More symptoms are present. This condition later gives rise to diseases like diabetes, heart disease, paralysis, liver, kidney and cancer.
